FAQs
What is a widget? Think of it as a mini website. From dictionary.com:
- An element of a GUI (graphical user interface), such as a text box or button, that displays information or settings that can be entered or altered by the user.
- A program that performs some simple function, such as providing a weather report or stock quote, and can be accessed from a computer desktop, webpage, mobile phone or subscription television service.
Where can I use widgets? You can use widgets on most websites and blogs—any that allow embeddable and/or html code. All of our widgets include javascript. Blog platforms that do not support javascript, including wordpress.com, will not support our widgets.
Do they work on Wordpress.com blogs? The widgets will not work on wordpress.com blogs because wordpress does not support javascript. The widgets do work on self-hosted wordpress.org blogs.
Do they work on Facebook? The widgets will not work on Facebook right now.
What does it cost to use LifeWidget? Nothing! There is no cost to browse or download widgets from LifeWidget. These resources are provided free of charge as a ministry resource. Why would I use a widget instead of just linking to a site? Widgets make it possible to view content from a website or blog without opening the actual site.
Will the widget information be updated automatically? Yes, it should. If you are having problems, please contact us and let us know about it. As long as the underlying URL hasn’t been renamed or broken, the information on the widget will be updated as the related blog or website updates their information.
Are the widgets secure? The widgets themselves are secure and are a framework for accessing content from blogs and websites. LifeWidget is taking every precaution to ensure the content included for developing these widgets is secure from computer corruption, but there is no guarantee that the data being accessed won’t be susceptible to viruses outside of LifeWidget.
Will I get spammed if I load the widget? Not from LifeWidget.
Is it easy to share a widget? Widgets themselves are easy to share—let others know about your widget on your social media sites! But the intention is to share LifeWidget.com so others can discover all of the great content and find widgets that best meet their needs.
